… shame …

On January 19th, 2009 the courageous laywer Stanislav Markelov was assassinated in Moscow. He was one of the few brave persons left in Russia who still dare to risk their lifes for the rule of law and justice.

It is a shame, that neither Dmitri Medvedev nor Vladimir Putin  have publicly expressed their condolences so far, let alone condemned the assassination.

  1. yes indeed it is. the russian federation or better its government under the leadership of putin seems to be very much afraid of courageous people, so much that their lives turn out to be very short. perhaps putin will another time utter that Markelovs influence wasn´t that big, as he already did concerning other courageous people. but also in austria people get killed on the streets…

  2. such assassinations are not a real shock any more… all media in Russia reported about this murder (inlcuding the state controled ones). but what will this change?

unfortunately, such tragic cases have become a shamefull tradition.
